“Velvet Silence – soft, deep emotions unspoken…
Singhi’s work explores Juliet’s emotional journey from Shakespere's classic play - "Romeo and Juliet" through the poetic language of Kathak, a classical Indian dance form native to North India, renowned for its storytelling and intricate footwork. In this evocative solo, Mansee Singhi weaves rhythm and expression to echo the timeless love, longing, and transformation of Shakespeare’s heroine — where every movement becomes a heartbeat of her story.
Singhi’s work is supported by CDA’s program Elbow Room, a unique dance residency program that grants Columbus-based dance artists funding and space to create new work over the course of six weeks.
